AEM ONLINE – Byrd in Hand with Ros Morley, viol

September 25 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm EDT

This class will examine a variety of instrumental pieces in three to six parts by William
Byrd. We will begin with one of his exquisite three-part fantasias, then play the fanta-
sies, in four and in six parts, that he included in his 1611 publication “Psalmes, songs
and sonnets,” and also revel in the rich sound of his five-part Browning. If there is time
we’ll also have a look at some of his cantus firmus hymn settings that are rarely heard
or played. Geared to: upper intermediate to advanced viols Pitch: A=415.

Join AEM ONLINE for new classes in September! Register for any number of sessions – classes are $25 per session. Music for the classes is posted in advance. Recordings of the class are available to participants for 7 days.
