Bruce Dickey & Hana Blažíková: “On the Breath of Angels”

March 5, 2023 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm EST

In the 16th and 17th centuries, cornetto players were often depicted as angel musicians, often in the company of angelic voices, viols, violins, trombones, organs, and harps. Taking this as a point of departure, the concert is a pairing of voice and cornetto, exploring the wonderful way they can play off of each other in diverse repertoires from the 17th century to the present day. Included are works by Sigismondo D’India, Giacomo Carissimi, Alessandro Scarlatti, and Giovanni Bononcini. Featured are two newly commissioned works which will be bridged to the earlier works through Erik Satie’s Les Anges. This is a compelling program not to be missed!
