Colburn Baroque Ensemble: Army of Generals

The phrase “army of generals” was used by the 18th century author Charles Burney to describe the splendid court orchestra at Mannheim, Germany, an orchestra coveted by Mozart. The Baroque Ensemble will perform galant orchestral music that was originally performed (or might have been performed) by this famous ensemble. The program will include music by Stamitz and Richter, and will conclude with Haydn’s beloved ‘Farewell’ Symphony.
