Corina Marti: “Capturing the Clavisimbalum”
May 4 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm EDT
$75
A SPECIAL DINNER EVENT: It’s not completely clear if Hermann Poll (1370 – 1401) really invented the clavisimbalum, but it’s time to chase the history of this instrument, the ancestor of the harpsichord. Following treatises, paintings and music, this program includes pieces from the late 13th century Spain and France, the famous Codex Faenza and the Buxheimer Orgelbuch, Eastern European sources and a touch of English music too. Composers, just to name a few, include Philippe de Vitry, Don Paolo da Firenze, Gilles Binchois, Mikolaj Radomsky, Francesco Landini, and many more.
Highlights from this calendar are included in the weekly E-Notes email newsletter (Tuesdays). Selections are made based on variety of event types and geographic regions.
EMA does not share non-EMA events on our social media platforms.
