Dangerous Divas: Virtuosity in Strozzi’s World

Fierce divas of the Italian baroque flex their musical muscles in this virtuosic program. Join soprano Amber Evans and viola da gambist Niccolo Seligmann for an exploration of the musical world of composer Barbara Strozzi and her contemporaries: Chiara Margarita Cozzolani, Francesca Caccini, and Isabella Leonarda. Amber Evans’ rapid-fire coloratura and liquid legato will be accompanied by Niccolo Seligmann’s intricate continuo realizations for viola da gamba–a rare and virtuosic technique that requires playing multiple musical lines simultaneously. Don’t miss this sensual, dynamic program featuring world-class artists!
