Massachusetts based Early Music duo The Harper and The Minstrel are celebrating Early Music Month in Florida with the March 10th release of their latest CD “Renaissance Dance and Romance” and performances every weekend at The Florida Renaissance Festival.
The Harper and The Minstrel are Jay and Abby Michaels. They both are singers and together they play well over a dozen traditional instruments including Harps, Recorders, Dulcimers, Psaltery, Flutes, Rebec, and Baroque Guitar.
The new CD features a delightful collection of Renaissance Dances and Love Songs played on an assortment of traditional instruments and sung in a variety of languages

The Harper and The Minstrel will perform March 3, 4, 10, 11, 17, 18 24 & 24 at The Florida Renaissance Festival, Quiet Waters Park, Deerfield Beach from 10am – sunset. The Duo appears on The Phyfe & Fiddle Music Stage at 11:30, 2:30 & 5. Also, at 10am every Faire day, on the same stage Jay Michaels directs “The Morning Music Consort”, a collection of Festival Musicians starting the day with Medieval and Renaissance tunes.
