A collection of musicians have come together to mark the 350th anniversary of prolific composer Heinrich Schütz’s death. Affected by the violence and political tension that accompanied the Thirty Years’ War (1618–1648), Schütz and his contemporaries produced works of comfort and lamentation revolving around the ever-prevalent theme of peace in times of war. The program includes works by Schütz, Gabrieli, Widmann and Sophie-Elisabeth von Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel.
