Heinavanker: Terra Mariana

October 13 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm MST

$25

Estonia is known worldwide for its excellent vocal ensembles and, for three decades, the ever-popular Heinavanker has represented this tradition in festivals and on concert stages in Europe and the Americas. We welcome Heinavanker back to Tucson for a third time!

This six-member group offers a program of polyphony from the time of Christianization of medieval Estonia, with music dedicated to the Virgin Mary and ancient Maarjamaa (St. Mary’s Land). Come hear works by Franco-Flemish composers Johannes Ockeghem, the most influential composer between Dufay and Josquin, and Jacob Arcadelt, known primarily for his secular vocal music, as well as Mikołaj Radomski, a 15th century composer for the Polish court, and others.
