Jonathan Oddie: Visionary and Virtuoso Variations
March 7 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm PSTFree
Fortepianist Jonathan Oddie isn’t afraid to repeat himself, but he never says the same thing twice! This deep dive into variation sets by Mozart and Beethoven shows that a great idea is inexhaustible in its ability to generate fresh and surprising new forms. The program will include Beethoven’s “Eroica” variations and fugue, op. 35, written at the peak of his struggle with encroaching deafness and prefiguring the final movement of the Third Symphony.
