OPERA: Handel’s Giulio Cesare

Boston Baroque’s operatic production for the season will be Handel’s masterpiece Giulio Cesare in Egitto, in a semi-staged production directed by Mary Birnbaum. Met soprano Susanna Phillips returns to Boston Baroque after her acclaimed 2015 performances  in Agrippina, this time making her role debut of of the iconic role of Cleopatra. Countertenors Lawrence Zazzo and John Holiday will make their Boston Baroque debuts with Zazzo in the title role as Cesare and Holiday as Cleopatra’s brother Tolomeo. All under the music direction of Martin Pearlman.
