The Odyssey of Kryštof Harant

The life of the Czech nobleman, traveller, writer and composer Kryštof Harant ended violently in 1621. This evening presents his surviving compositions and literary legacy – his 1608 book recording the trip he made to the Middle East. Harant’s colorful work, narrated by Bill Richardson, will guide you on a musical journey to the exotic lands of Cyprus, Jerusalem, Sinai, and Cairo. In addition to Harant’s compositions, the concert also includes music from composers of these distant lands.

Program includes works by Harant, Murad, Misri, Seyfullah, Mo’men, de l’Estocart and Giray Han
