Event Series Event Series: The Story of Pa I Sha

The Story of Pa I Sha

November 7 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm CST

$20
In partnership with the Mitchell Museum of the American Indian, Evanston Township High School, Evanston Arts Council, and 3Arts, the Bach & Beethoven Experience (BBE) will premiere The Story of Pa I Sha, composed by BBE Artistic Director Brandi Berry Benson. Inspired by Brandi’s 4th great grandmother Pa I Sha, this new musical work with narration will use music from the Chickasaw and Choctaw Nations to tell the stories of Brandi’s Chickasaw ancestors. The instrumentation of this work will feature Rachael Youngman (Choctaw) as narrator and vocalist, Leighann Daihl Ragusa on traverso and Native American flute, violinist Brandi Berry Benson (Chickasaw), violist Kiyoe Matsuura, cellist Erica Rubis, and percussionist Michaela Marchi (Isleta Pueblo). The narration will mostly be in English, but will include some Chickasaw language in telling three major stories from Brandi’s Chickasaw heritage.
