The Thirsty Scholar

March 5 @ 3:00 pm - 4:15 pm EST

$15

Seven Times Salt celebrates life, love, and music as part of our 20th anniversary season. Inspired by the works of our friend, poet and Italophile Scott Harney, the program features love songs of 17th-c Italy along with choice Renaissance dance tunes, followed by a brief visit to Elizabethan England. Finally, we’ll take a sea voyage to southern Italy, performing traditional and classical songs from Scott’s adopted city of Naples. In between, you’ll hear several of his poems read aloud by the musicians. His posthumous collection of poems, The Blood of San Gennaro, will be available for purchase at the concert.

Angie Tyler, soprano
Karen Burciaga, violin, guitar
Dan Meyers, recorders, flute, percussion, baritone
Rebecca Shaw, bass viol
Matthew Wright, lute

“What makes a scholar thirst? The search for one good truth, a dozen better lies, and the thought of a decent ale in the failing afternoon.” —from “Lunch at the Thirsty Scholar” by Scott Harney
