THE THISTLE AND ROSE

October 1 @ 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm EDT

$25

Both Scotland and England were blessed with a plethora of folk tunes that found their way into compositions that expressed in a variety of moods. Among them were the Scottish composer James Oswald who collected and printed 12 volumes of Scottish tunes, but new trios dedicated to the 4 seasons.  The Scots imitated the English variation style while English composers like John Wilson and Nicolas Matteis based some of their compositions on Scottish tradition. This delightful journey into the folk melodies from the “Isles” features Sarah Lynn, 2023 national Scottish Fiddling Champion.
