DESCRIPTION:The glorious music that was heard under Brunelleschi’s dome i
 s less familiar to us today – less frequently performed and rife with se
 emingly strange rhythms and harmonies. Severall Friends’ quartet of medi
 eval experts (Mary Springfels\, bowed instruments\; Mark Rimple\, lute &am
 p\; voice\; Christa Patton\, harp\, winds &amp\; bagpipes\; Sian Ricketts\
 , recorders\, doucaine\, &amp\; voice) will lead us through the thickets a
 nd show us how the music of this exotic and voluptuous sonic world is read
 ily performable.\nThis is a workshop for pre-professional\, advanced\, and
  upper intermediate singers and instrumentalists on soft instruments: lute
 s\, recorders\, viols\, and the like. Registrants should be experienced en
 semble players\, comfortable singing or playing one on a part.\nRegistrant
 s will be grouped into compatible mixed ensembles. The day offers four cla
 ss sessions with the final session an all-workshop performance of excerpts
  from Machaut’s Messe de Nostre Dame and Dufay’s Missa Ave Regina Cael
