 ayers as well as Renaissance-flute newcomers\, all are welcome! This year'
 s workshop will explore the repertoire of Das Liederbuch des Arndt von Aic
 h (1514/1516)\, with music by turn-of-the-century composers such as Adam v
 on Fulda and Matthaeus Pipelare\, and musicians from the court of Maximili
 an I\, including Heinrich Isaac and Paul Hofhaimer.\n\nMuch of the reperto
 ire for Renaissance flutes was written for consorts. A typical consort of 
 Renaissance flutes includes 3 tenor flutes and a bass flute\, or a treble\
 , 2 tenors and a bass. Larger ensembles are possible too: there is music f
 or 5\,6 and 8 Renaissance flutes. Workshop extras include mini-lectures on
  topics specifically related to the Renaissance flute\, guided instruction
  on reading from 16th-century notation\, and opportunities to try instrume
 nts by various makers. This year\, we will meet on Friday evening\, and wo
 rkshop will end Sunday early afternoon. Workshop begins on Friday evening\
 , January 30\, at 7:00 p.m. and finishes Sunday\, February 2 at 3:00 p.m.\
 n\nOpen to flutists with all levels of experience\, from beginners on the 
 Renaissance flute to already existing flute consorts.
