DESCRIPTION:Virtuosity at Home in the Nineteenth Century\nThe nineteenth ce
 ntury salon was a space for social encounter\, political debate\, music cr
 eation\, poetry\, dance and more. In this concert\, Karin Cuéllar Rendón
  &amp\; Byron Schenkman explore the music of Hélène de Montgeroult (1764
 -1836)\, Julie Candeille (1767-1834)\, Franz Shubert (1797-1828) and Pedro
  Ximenez Abrill Tirado (1784-1856) whose music–composed for the intimacy
  of the nineteenth century salon in Paris\, Vienna and Sucre during differ
 ent historical\, political and cultural contexts–displays unmeasured vir
 tuosity and fantasy. Karin A. Cuéllar Rendón is a Bolivian historical vi
 olinist and scholar currently residing in Montreal\, Canada. Cuéllar Rend
 ón performs regularly with Montreal-based period ensembles such as Ensemb
 le Caprice\, Arion\, Les Boreades\, and L’Harmonie des Saison. Byron Sch
 enkman is a Queer Jewish keyboard player and scholar with a background in 
 Historical Performance and a passion for connecting people through music. 
 In addition to performing live on piano\, harpsichord\, and fortepiano\, B
 yron can be heard on more than forty CDs\, including recordings on histori
 cal instruments from the National Music Museum\, Vermillion\, and the Muse
