DESCRIPTION:The third concert of Early Music Missouri’s 2026–2027 seaso
 n offers a program of English music from the late 16th and early 17th cent
 uries by Orlando Gibbons and William Byrd. The viola da gamba holds a spec
 ial place in English musical culture and some of the most sublime music fo
 r the viol consort came from the pens of Gibbons and Byrd. The concert fea
 tures instrumental works for various combinations of violas da gamba as we
 ll as consort songs that combine solo and ensemble voices with the viol co
 nsort. The vocal pieces include solo secular songs and a liturgical anthem
  for vocal soloists\, choral ensemble and viol consort.\n\nIn line with it
 s mission to bring regional and local musicians to our stage\, Early Music
  Missouri is pleased to welcome Alchymy Viols to our Mainstage series. One
  of North America’s premiere viol consorts\, Indianapolis-based Alchymy 
 Viols has performed on concert series and at festivals across the country.
  Its individual members have decades of experience that includes internati
 onal performance\, recording and teaching credentials. The ensemble is bas
 ed in Indiana and its members—Wendy Gillespie\, Joanna Blendulf\, Erica 
 Rubis and Philip Spray—have strong professional connections to the famed
  Historical Practice Program at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Mu
 sic. Alchymy Viols will be joined for this concert by Stephanie Hunt\, vio
 la da gamba\, David Sinden\, organ\, and a vocal ensemble including sopran
 o soloists Samantha Arten and Arianna Aerie.\n\nThe concert will take plac
 e on November 1\, 2026 at 3:00 PM at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church\, 110 
 North Warson Road in Ladue\, MO. Free off-street parking\, available immed
 iately adjacent to the church\, includes multiple handicapped spots. The p
 erformance space is accessible for those with special mobility needs. Admi
 ssion to the concert is $20 (cash\, card\, or check) at the door with spec
 ial discounts for students.\n\nEarly Music Missouri is the region's foremo
 st promoter and presenter of Early Music concerts. Its performances featur
 e Medieval\, Renaissance and Baroque repertoire performed on period instru
 ments by expert performers from the region and nation.
