SUMMARY:Early Music Missouri presents "From Stage &amp\; Court: Baroque Ari
 as &amp\; Songs"
DESCRIPTION:Countertenor Keith Wehmeier brings a program of 17th-century so
ngs and arias to Early Music Missouri’s stage. Keith is joined for this
program by Baroque violinist Celina Boldrey\, Baroque cellist Stephanie Hu
nt and lutenist Jeffrey Noonan. The concert features music composed for so
lo voice with violin and includes lute songs by John Dowland\, a lament by
Henry Purcell and an aria by George Frideric Handel. Instrumental works o
n the program include music by Nicolo Matteis played by violinist Celina B
oldrey.\n\nThe concert will take place on April 12\, 2026 at 3:00 PM at Se
cond Presbyterian Church\, 4501 Westminster Place in St. Louis’s Central
West End. Free off-street and street parking is available immediately adj
acent to the church. Admission to the concert is $20 (cash\, card\, or che
ck) at the door with special discounts for students.\n\nAn up-and-coming s
inger on the national music scene\, St. Louis native Keith Wehmeier has ga
rnered critical recognition for his many concert and operatic performances
across the country. Reviews have praised his “bright\, agile vocal tech
nique\,” noting that Keith’s “voice was both strong and dulcet and h
e phrased the text with subtlety.” At home on both recital and concert s
tages\, Keith has also quickly carved out a niche for himself in the bravu
ra roles of Handel’s operas. This concert is the second appearance by Ke
ith with Early Music Missouri this season\, and in early May 2026\, he wil
l sing the role of the Sorceress in Early Music Missouri’s concert produ
ction Purcell's Dido and Aeneas.\n\nThe three instrumentalists accompanyin
g Keith have been regulars with Early Music Missouri since its creation. A
core member of Early Music Missouri's instrumental ensembles\, Baroque vi
olinist Celina Boldrey appears regularly as a soloist and in chamber ensem
bles. Baroque cellist Stephanie Hunt has performed with Early Music Missou
ri since its earliest concerts as both a featured soloist and as an integr
al part of the basso continuo in chamber and orchestral settings. Both Cel
ina and Stephanie have toured duo recitals across the region with lutenist
Jeffrey Noonan\, founder and director of Early Music Missouri\, who has p
layed early plucked instruments across the region for over forty years.\n\
nEarly Music Missouri is the region's foremost promoter and presenter of E
arly Music concerts. Its performances feature Medieval\, Renaissance and B
aroque repertoire performed on period instruments by expert performers fro
 m the region and nation.
