SUMMARY:Fandangos And Other Dances
DESCRIPTION:This program features Ibero-American dances and song-dances\, i
 ncluding folias\, jácaras\, and fandangos\, from the Renaissance to the p
 resent. The music spans from the early Spanish Cancioneros (songbooks) in 
 old Iberia to contemporary folk and popular music from Venezuela and Mexic
 o. Included are dances such as joropo from Venezuela and Colombia and fand
 anguito from Mexico. Performers will switch from the European viola da gam
 ba and Renaissance guitar to the Venezuelan cuatro and harp\, illustrating
  the similar yet distinctively different sonorities and rhythmic and harmo
 nic connections between the two continents\, underlining Africa’s influ
 ence on them. The program will also include an aria by Jose de Nebra prais
 ing the Fandango for relieving fears.\n\nMusic by Anonymous\, Ortiz\, Sole
 r\, Murcia\, Machado\, Castellanos\, and others.\n\n“Gutiérrez and her
