DESCRIPTION:The lute boasts a large repertoire of graceful court dances and
  witty character pieces written from the late 17th to early 18th centuries
 . This is music written in a galant\, or elegant\, style: an intimate\, si
 mplified harmonic structure contrasts with elaborate and refined ornamenta
 tion.\n\nLutenist Brian Bartling has selected a program that highlights th
 e grace and elegance so characteristic to the Baroque lute. Suites by the 
 renowned Sylvius Weiss will be featured\, along with a few of his lesser-k
 nown contemporaries such as Lesage de Richee and Wolff Jakob Lauffensteine
