SUMMARY:Telemann’s Don Quixote: A Comic Opera with Puppets​
DESCRIPTION:Mountainside Baroque will present G. P. Telemann’s delightful
  one-act comic serenata\, Don Quixote at Comacho’s Wedding\, a ground-br
 eaking production that will feature full-sized puppets along with professi
 onal soloists and Baroque chamber orchestra. The scene of the performance 
 will be the Friedland Ballroom at the Allegany Museum in Cumberland\, Mary
 land. An open dress rehearsal preview is scheduled for 7PM on Saturday\, M
 ay 16\, also in the Museum Ballroom.\nOverseeing the performance are Mount
 ainside Baroque Co-Director Dr. Lyle Nordstrom and NYC Artistic Director A
 lyssa Weathersby\, along with Cumberland puppeteers Debbie Streicher and K
 risten Evans. Featured in the principal vocal roles are Texas bass David G
 rogan and New York City baritone Harrison Hintzsche as well as several oth
 er soloists from the DC/Baltimore area\, including mezzo Janna Critz\, alt
 o Charlotte Steward\, tenor Ben Hawker\, and baritone Corbin Phillips.\nJu
 illiard Baroque violin faculty Cynthia Roberts will lead a 10-piece orches
 tra using reproductions of Baroque instruments\, including Baroque strings
 \, Baroque flutes\, natural trumpets and Baroque bassoon as well as harpsi
 chord and Baroque timpani.\nIn addition\, there will be a free lead-in pre
 sentation on developing the production on Saturday\, May 9\, at 3pm at the
  Allegany County LaVale Library at 815 National Highway in LaVale\, Maryla
 nd. Titled “Making Don Quixote\,” the round table discussion will focu
 s on the process and experiences of some of those connected with creating 
 this innovative event.
