AMY BARTRAM, soprano, has sung music ranging from ancient Greek chant to premieres by emerging composers, jazz, and more. She has performed lead roles in baroque and contemporary operas, and her oratorio solo credits include works by Bach, Monteverdi, Mozart, Purcell, and Vivaldi in concerts in NYC and the Hamptons. At the Little Church around the Corner, NYC, she has recently been the soloist in Handel's Messiah, Mozart’s Coronation Mass, Purcell's Come Ye Sons of Art, as well as singing the role of Josabeth in Handel’s Athalia in 2006. She has sung with Antioch, the Clarion Music Society Choir, Musica Sacra, the Vox vocal ensemble, and Pomerium, and has been a soloist with the NY Consort of Viols. For several years she appeared in broadcast performances with REBEL baroque orchestra at Trinity Church, Wall St., as a member of Trinity Choir, and was a soloist in works by Handel, Mozart, and Purcell (as Belinda in Dido and Aeneas). She can be heard as a soloist on the bestselling Naxos CD, Christmas at Trinity. Amy was a member of the NY Continuo Collective for five years, during which time she sang the roles of Venere, Fama, and Prima Sorella in the modern-day premiere of Leardini’s Psiche (c. 1649) at BEMF and in NYC; Dorinda in Il Pastor Fido; Anima in Cavalieri’s Il Rappresentatione di Anima e di Corpo (c. 1601); Harmony in the 1589 Florentine Intermedi, and lots of other 17th c. repertoire. A specialist in early music, she has given more than fifteen concerts of lute songs with lutenist Ekko Jennings and is the artistic director of Machicoti, a Medieval Ensemble. She also plays medieval lute, and was a student of lutenist Pat O'Brien. She sings the role of satrap and plays medieval lute in the acclaimed GEMS NY production of the 12th c. Play of Daniel (in 2008 and 2013 at the Cloisters Museum, at the CT Early Music Festival and Rockport Chamber Music festival in 2013, and at Trinity Church Wall St.). In April 2010, she released a solo CD of 16th c. French chansons with renaissance guitarist Jocelyn Nelson, Ma Guiterre je te chante, which is available on CD Baby: The duo most recently performed this program on a BEMF Fringe concert in 2009.
