The Baroque Orchestra of New Jersey, led by director Robert Butts, will be celebrating the approach of its 20th anniversary in style with a performance of a groundbreaking one-act 18th-century opera.
The extraordinarily influential opera, “La Serva Padrona” by the Baroque master Giovanni Battista Pergolesi (1710-36), will be the main feature on the program. The staged performance of this entr’acte will feature lyric soprano Dominicka Zamara, a native of Poland, who recently accompanied the group on a tour of England and Italy. Butts and Zamara performed this work in March in Italy.
