The revival of spoken Hebrew had no precedent and has been challenging to duplicate. Would a similar revival be just as unlikely, then, in music? Could composers today create music in a pre-modern style not as a reference or exercise but as their own everyday “native tongue”? That possibility is raised by the work of Elam Rotem.
