The third annual European Day of Early Music has been announced as on 21 March this year.
Chosen for being the birth date of Bach, the event will mark the date with a large range of concerts, lectures and workshops to celebrate a 1000-year-old European musical heritage.
Last year’s celebration saw over 122 concerts in 23 different countries, with many broadcast live online. ‘For people like me, who have been specialists for many, many years and are trying to communicate this music to a new public, to students, to young colleagues … a day like this is a kind of recognition of what we have done,’ says William Christie, ambassador of the 2015 event.
