The Cambridge Society for Early Music hosts Relaunch Celebration 9/21

The Cambridge Society for Early Music presents Relaunch Celebration event

CSEM will host a fundraiser concert to celebrate our return and kick off CSEM’s first full concert season since 2020. This is the organization’s first season under the new leadership of Artistic Director Annette Klein and General Manager Sarah Vandewalle. Since its founding in 1952, the Cambridge Society for Early Music–the first such society in America–has contributed enormously to establishing the Boston area’s reputation as the early music capital of America. After several years of hiatus following the pandemic and the passing of longtime-president James S. Nicolson, CSEM re-emerges as a focal point for greater understanding and appreciation of the vast repertory in this field.

CSEM’s Relaunch Celebration
Sunday, September 21 at 5pm
Margaret Jewett Hall, First Church Cambridge
11 Garden Street, Cambridge MA 02138

Join the leadership, board members, musicians and friends of CSEM for a late afternoon gathering in cafe style with musical and edible treats to celebrate CSEM’s legacy and support its future as a beacon for the Greater Boston early music community. In honor of our late James S. Nicolson, CSEM gathers several of his friends and students to perform specially selected works by Marais, Haydn, Beethoven and more. The event will include performances by Akiko Sato, harpsichord, Emily Walhout, gamba, and Sylvia Berry, fortepiano, alongside a light coffee hour with pastries, a raffle, and a preview of our 2025-26 Concert Season.

Tickets start at $50 with multiple ticket donation levels available; all donations and contributions will support CSEM in providing accessible, intimate, and engaging early music programming in the 2025-26 Season and beyond.

Our online raffle is open here, with fantastic prizes such as private mini-concerts, music lessons, season subscriptions to local groups, unique early music items, and more!
