EMAg, The Magazine of Early Music America

EMAg, The Magazine of Early Music America, is the most comprehensive resource for early music in North America. EMAg is published three times per year, reaching 3,000 subscribers and many more readers in libraries across North America and beyond. EMAg is available both as a high-quality, beautifully designed print publication as well as an interactive online "Flipping Book" publication read by professional and amateur musicians, students, university faculty, ensemble directors, instrument makers, media personnel, fans and early music concertgoers. Your ad appears in both the print and online versions of EMAg, allowing you and your business or organization to reach a very targeted audience of early music professionals and enthusiasts. Please note that the online publication allows for click-through links, as long as the URL is legible.

MECHANICAL REQUIREMENTS

Magazine Trim Size: 8” x 10.75”

For full page bleeds: 8" x 10.75" with a bleed of .125" Live area (safe zone) is 7.25" x 10"

For full page non bleeds: 7.25" x 10"

For 2/3 page bleed (3 sided): Live area should be 4.75” wide x 10.5” high plus .25” bleed on 3 sides (for a total of 5.125” wide x 11” high)

Live matter: Keep a minimum of 1/4 inch from trim sides

All copy subject to publisher’s approval.

Binding: Saddle stitch

Printing: Web offset, coated stock

Preferred formats: High resolution PDF/X-1a files with all fonts and images embedded. JPEGs and TIFF files also accepted. We will not accept Microsoft Word files.

Preparation: Four color ad must be CMYK. Art must be at least 300 dpi for best print quality. Black & white ads must be grayscale.

Files identified as containing RGB or spot colors as well as low resolution images will be returned to the advertiser for adjustment. Advertiser is responsible for resolution quality of ad submitted. Late art submissions as well as adjustments subject to an additional $60/hr charge. Ads that are not sized exactly may have their proportions changed slightly to fit magazine format. Ads that do not conform to other requirements may be returned to the advertiser for correction.

E-Notes

EMA’s E-newsletter, E-Notes Weekly, is emailed every Tuesday throughout the year to more than 6,000 recipients and contains important timely news, information, and events specifically targeted to our constituents. With an average open rate of 30% (industry standard rate is approximately 25%), E-Notes is a great way to reach an engaged audience who can visit your website with a simple click. Ads are accepted as high-resolution JPG or PNG files. Our image sizes cannot be adjusted, therefore, we highly recommend that artwork does not contain a lot of text as the image size would make the ad difficult to read.

Whether you are interested in print or digital advertising, EMA can create customized packages to fit your needs. Packages include advertising via all of our media outlets: EMAg (The Magazine of Early Music America), our website, our weekly e-newsletter, E-Notes, and our *social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Receive a special discount with each advertising package- anytime, every time!

*Social Media promotions are only available as part of an advertising package.

Contract Terms

This contract is for space only. Content of ads may be changed with each issue. We understand that Early Music America, may void this agreement if the terms and conditions for insertion of advertising in Early Music America are not met.

PAYMENT TERMS: Payment must be received within 30 days from the invoice due date above. If payment is received after the 30 days, a 5% late fee will be added. International payments must be fulfilled by credit either on online via our website or over the phone. We accept U.S. bank checks and credit cards (Visa, Mastercard. AMEX) only. We do not accept payment via international bank wire transfer.

PAPERWORK: Placement of advertisements requires a signed Early Music America Advertising Contract. Other purchase orders and insertions orders accepted. Advertising confirmations via e-mail are also accepted and must still adhere to the terms of this contract.

ADVERTISING AGENCIES: Agency discounts are not given.

CANCELLATIONS: Advertising cancellations will be accepted in writing via e-mail on or before the “Ad Space Reservation Deadline” indicated on Rate Card. If cancellations are made after the "Ad Space Reservation Deadline," the advertiser is required to pay 10% of the total amount due on the invoice.

ADVERTISING MATERIALS: Advertising Materials are due on “Artwork Submission Deadline” indicated on Rate Card. If new advertising copy is not received by this time, Early Music America will insert the ad that was most recently published.

COVERS: Reserved Covers include the Inside Front, Inside Back and Outside Back. Cover pages are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

POSITION: All ads except covers are run-of-book and placed at the discretion of Early Music America. Every effort will be made to meet placement requests, but positioning other than reserved covers cannot be guaranteed. “Special Placement” (guaranteeing advertiser’s request) with a 5% surcharge available for 1/3 page color advertisements or larger. Inquire for details.

CONDITIONS: The contents of advertisements are subject to approval by Early Music America. Placement of advertising in Early Music America assumes agreement with all stated policies on this rate card. The publisher reserves the right to reject or cancel any advertisement, insertion order or space reservations at any time. Rates subject to change. When new rates become effective, advertisers with a signed contract will retain their existing rates for the duration of their contract. Early Music America cannot guarantee results for advertisements appearing in EMAg, The Magazine of Early Music America, www.earlymusicamerica.org and EMA’s monthly e-newsletter, E-Notes.
