The 2025-2026 Mountainside Baroque season will lead off on Sunday, October 12, at 4pm at the Shrine of Ss. Peter and Paul, on Fayette at Smallwood in Cumberland. In “Gems from a New Era: Haydn, Mozart and More,” the organization will venture beyond the Baroque to a new era in composition–the mid 18th-century “new music” that is often dubbed “Rococo.” It was characterized by easier harmonies, multi-movement compositions, a focus on the orchestra, and the rise of the piano. New composers with well-known names emerge such as Josef Haydn and Wolfgang Mozart. For this concert, featured concerto soloists will be Joseph Yungen on fortepiano, Marc Bellassai on harpsichord and violinist (from the “Four Seasons”) Cynthia Roberts. The performance will be preceded at 3:30pm by a discussion of the concert repertory.
