Fellowship Applications Open for The Sociable Fortepiano (by Dec 31)

The Sociable Fortepiano (March 5–9, 2026, New York City) is a new artist residency, workshop, and mini-festival reimagining fortepiano musicking as a space of connection and experimentation. Funded by the Westfield Center for Historical Keyboard Studies and curated by Yi-heng Yang (Juilliard) and Patricia García Gil (Cornell CCHK), the initiative invites performers, scholars, and technicians—including singers and instrumentalists collaborating with early keyboardists—to rediscover lost repertoires and explore new creative practices inspired by 18th- and 19th-century traditions.

Residency events will unfold across New York City, including RIVAA Gallery (Roosevelt Island) and St. Paul’s Chapel (Columbia University), transforming the city into a collaborative “urban laboratory.” Fellows will receive small travel and lodging grants, and participation is tuition-free and open to all backgrounds, emphasizing inclusivity and dialogue.
