International Baroque Competition Announces Finalists for $15K prize

The Blakeman Gerber Indianapolis International Baroque Competition has announced the finalists for its 2026 edition. Drawn from an international pool of applicants, these five laureates were recognized for their technical excellence and their ability to use historically informed performance as a tool for musical expression, bringing their talent to compete in the finals concert at the Indiana History Center, July 12th, accompanied by the Indianapolis Baroque Orchestra.

Finalists : Pablo O’Connell, Oboe | Peter Lim, Recorder | Cordelia Mutter, Cello | Kaya Gür, Violin | Josh Liu, Violin

The selected laureates will compete this July for the Amos and Devona Gerber Grand Prize of $15,000, the most substantial award in the competition’s history. In addition to the grand prize, the remaining four laureates will each receive $1,000, and a chance to win the Audience Choice Award of $500 that will be presented during the final competition.

Now in its third quadrennial cycle, the competition will take place on July 12, 2026, at the Basile Theatre in the Indiana History Center in Indianapolis. Presented by Indianapolis Baroque Orchestra and Indianapolis Early Music, the event has quickly established itself as a leading platform for emerging soloists specializing in Early Music and further cementing itself into the fabric of music competitions hosted in Indianapolis.
