As a young composer, JS Bach looked to the cosmopolitan North of Germany for inspiration and guidance. Georg Böhm in Luneburg likely mentored Bach in the first years of the 18th century, and Bach earned praise from Adam Reincken in Hamburg, who said: “I thought this art was dead, but I see it lives with you.” This program features works by Böhm and Reincken, alongside Bach’s playful fifth partita.
