A Gathering in Music in Honor of Joel Cohen (1942-2026)

The Boston Camerata announces A Gathering in Music in honor of Joel Cohen (1942-2026), Music Director Emeritus, on October 20, 2026, at the Longy School of Music’s Pickman Hall at 6:30pm.

A visionary and charismatic leader, he directed the Camerata from 1963 to 2008. Joel helped create a field, from contributing to the rediscovery of early American source material to reaching beyond the standard early music repertoire, showing how musical ideas migrated across borders separating nations and religions. His dedication to the Camerata’s mission – preserving and reawakening human memory as expressed through the art of music – has reached far and wide, and continues to be deeply ingrained in many of the programs that we still perform to this day.

Learn more about Joe’s remarkable impact on the early music sector here.

This is a free event and has limited capacity.

A reception will follow our gathering in Longy’s Wolfinsohn Hall.
