Byron Schenkman & Friends Announces Eighth Season–Spring 2021

New Light in New Ways – Three Chamber Music Concerts

Seattle, Washington: Byron Schenkman & Friends continues its innovative Eighth Season, New Light in New Ways, with three new digital premieres: Piano Songs & Fantasies on February 21; Happy Birthday, J.S. Bach! on March 21; and Beethoven & the Schumanns on April 25.

Byron Schenkman & Friends is a Baroque and Classical chamber music series. Described as “an elegant stylist” in the New York Times and “stylistically brilliant” in the Pittsburgh Post-Tribune, keyboard wizard Byron Schenkman brings together wonderful musicians and great friends for delightful and innovative chamber music programs. All these programs will be available to the public online through the BS&F website (www.byronandfriends.org) and YouTube channel.

These three spring chamber music programs premiere on YouTube, Sundays at 7:00 PM, Pacific Time.

February 21, 2021 Piano Songs & Fantasies

Three fabulous Northwest pianists bring new light to music by some of the best pianist composers, from Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Franz Schubert to Margaret Bonds and Florence Beatrice Price, and from intimate songs to virtuoso showpieces. Featuring William Chapman Nyaho, Byron Schenkman, and Joseph Williams.

March 21, 2021 Happy Birthday, J.S. Bach!

Johann Sebastian Bach has inspired great musicians from Fanny Mendelssohn to Nina Simone and beyond. BS&F celebrates the master with works by Bach for flute, violin, viol, and harpsichord, plus music from the time of his birth by Isabella Leonarda and Johann Kaspar Kerll. Featuring Joshua Romatowski, Ingrid Matthews, Caroline Nicolas, and Byron Schenkman.

April 25, 2021 Beethoven & the Schumanns

Robert & Clara Schumann loved the music of Ludwig van Beethoven. This program brings together one very special work from each of these wonderful composers: Clara’s Romances and Ludwig’s First Sonata for violin and piano, and Robert’s Fairytale Pictures for viola and piano. Featuring Rachell Ellen Wong, Amber Archibald, and Byron Schenkman.
