Early Music Missouri’s 2025–2026 Mainstage Concert Series opens with a scintillating recital of music for two recorders. Performed by Lisette Kielson and Rachel Siegel, the program ranges from the Middle Ages to the 21st Century. Early repertoire includes music by Ludwig Senfl and Franceso Landini as well as a duo suite by the 18th-century French flautist Jacques Hotteterre. The duo will also perform early Baroque duos by the Italian composers Marco Uccellini, Dario Castello, Tarquinio Merula and Andrea Falconieri. Contemporary music on the program features works by Sören Seig and a bossa nova by Antonio Carlos Jobim. Lisette and Rachel will be accompanied by Stephanie Hunt on Baroque cello and viola da gamba and Jeff Noonan playing lute, theorbo and various guitars.

The concert will take place on October 5 at 3:00 PM at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 110 North Warson Road in Ladue, MO. Free off-street parking is available immediately adjacent to the church, including handicapped spots. The performance space is accessible for those with special mobility needs. Admission to the concert is $20 (cash, card, or check) with special discounts for students.

Lisette and Rachel have performed together regularly on a number of Early Music Missouri concerts, but this recital is their first outing as recorder duo. A past president of the American Recorder Society, Lisette is recognized across the country as an accomplished performer and well-regarded teacher. Much of her performing work centers on the Chicago area with regular performances with the best of the region’s Early Music Ensembles as well as concerts and tours with her own ensemble, Chicago Recorder Trio. A St. Louis native, Rachel has performed widely on both clarinet and recorder. As a member of the United States Marine Band, Rachel appeared in wide variety of ensembles and as a soloist as well as with a number of orchestras on the Eastern seaboard. Her performances on recorder include Vivaldi concerti, Bach’s Brandenburgs, Charpentier orchestral music and Spanish Renaissance repertoire.

Early Music Missouri is the region’s foremost promoter and presenter of Early Music concerts. Its performances feature Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque repertoire performed on period instruments by expert performers from the region and nation.
