Early Music Missouri presents Musicke’s Cordes (Samuel Breene, Baroque violin & Jeffrey Noonan, early guitars, vihuela, and theorbo) as the duo turns its attention to the influence of Iberian music across Europe from the High Renaissance to the High Baroque. With the discovery of the New World, Spain appeared to sit quite literally at the center of the known world—a gateway to the Americas, a window on Africa and a source of inspiration to the rest of Europe. Influenced itself by the Middle East and Americas, Spain introduced new instruments, rhythms, dances and forms to the rest of Europe. This concert offers Spanish music, Spanish interpretations of New World Music and further interpretations of these musics by Italian, French and German musicians. The program includes Renaissance diferencias, sultry passacailles and toe-tapping ciaconnas from Spain as well as well as chaconnes, passacaglias and more from across the continent.

This concert performance will take place on May 10, 2026 at 4:00 pm at San Miguel Chapel (401 Old Santa Fe Trail, Santa Fe, NM).  Admission to the concert is $20 (cash, card, or check) at the door, with open seating.

Early Music Missouri is the region’s foremost promoter and presenter of Early Music concerts, with frequent runout performances to other areas. Its performances feature Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque repertoire performed on period instruments by expert performers from the region and nation.
