A child is born: Piffaro and Tenet Vocal Artists present an intimate program of German Renaissance Christmas music— by the first generations of composers in the Lutheran church. Beloved melodies like Praetorius’s “Es ist ein Ros entsprungen” are placed alongside works by Johann Hermann Schein, Johannes Eccard, Michael Altenburg: musicians who believed in the simple and powerful beauty of congregational singing, while also being masters of the young, ornate styles of their day.
