Join Newton Baroque on December 6 and 7 for a festive journey through Advent, Christmas, and Epiphany with music from seventeenth century North Germany. Many beloved holiday traditions trace their roots to this region, and our program highlights its rich musical heritage, from contemplative works to joyful celebrations.

With performances at First Lutheran Church in downtown Boston and St Elizabeth’s Church in Sudbury, the concerts showcase two exceptional baroque organs. Andrus Madsen leads on organ, joined by Susanna Ogata and Nicole Vega on violin, Douglas Kelley on viola da gamba, and vocalists Anastasia Black and Rozime Lindsey. The program features cantatas by Buxtehude, Bruhns, Geist, and Rigatti, along with Buxtehude’s rollicking Sonata in B flat major and Michael Prätorius’ Nun lob mein Seel den Herrn.
