Baroque Music Montana offers a period-practice workshop for modern and baroque performers. This year’s workshop theme is “Riding Bare Bach — Fugues to Dance with J.S.” The workshop will explore:

original sources (manuscript scores and first editions, iconography, writing) and their clues for today’s performers

varied articulation and rhetorical, communicative sound

ornamentation and improvisation

open, centered, & relaxed physical approach to instrument

larger cultural context of music

large & small ensembles, lectures, private lessons, and some events just for good musical fun!Tailored instruction for a variety of levels
Instruction is tailored to multiple skill levels and is open to students, amateurs, and professionals (ages 14+) who have at least four years of experience on strings, winds, keyboard, guitar, or lute; viols, singers, and other instruments may join by request. Participation is capped at 50, with possible separate classes for professionals. Scholarships and housing are available upon request.
