Curious about the baroque flute but not sure where to begin? Feel welcomed right here!
This month-long workshop offers a welcoming and practical introduction to the one-keyed flute, designed for modern flutists and beginners alike. Through clear demonstrations and hands-on playing, participants will explore the basics of sound production, posture, and fingerings, while discovering what makes the baroque flute expressive in such a unique way. This workshops assumes that you have a traverso and basic music-reading skills.
We will touch on essential elements of the baroque style such as phrasing, articulation, and ornamentation, without assuming much prior historical performance experience. The focus is on curiosity, experimentation, and building confidence amongst other like-minded fellow flutists who will cheer each other on along the way! Whether you are taking your very first steps into early music or simply want to better understand the Baroque flute’s voice and possibilities, this workshop will be a friendly kickstart and provide you with sound and essential knowledge.
In addition to group instruction, there’ll be built-in individual lessons with me so that I can monitor your personal progress. Most people find it helpful to listen to each other’s lessons, but this can be arranged on an individual basis. For this reason, live participationis limited to 4 players.
