For 40 years, we’ve been diligently working to strengthen and celebrate early music throughout the Americas by supporting the professional performers, students, educators, scholars, ensembles, presenters, instrument makers, amateur musicians, and music lovers who are sustaining and moving our field forward.
EMA believes that everyone should have access to learning, performing, and enjoying early music. Your support is essential to keeping our vibrant programs and the field of early music thriving for another 40 years and beyond.
Our 40th Anniversary Funding the Future campaign emphasizes the importance of our programs that provide vital training and career-building opportunities for young artists, as well as our grants that bring early music to every corner of the Americas.
You can support this campaign today with a gift of $40, $400, $4,000, or any amount that reflects your commitment to early music.

Engagement Awards
Each year, EMA provides funding to organizations, ensembles, and individual artists for projects that promote awareness and appreciation of historical performance. With our financial support, these projects are drawing new audiences and participants to early music. With your support, we can expand these awards to provide transformative funding to a greater number of applicants, with a focus on underserved communities.
Workshop Scholarships
Your donations help send 10 or more students to North American early-music workshops each year. In many cases, these awards are enough to cover tuition, travel costs, and room and board. These awards are now open to students in Central and South America, and up to two awards for BIPOC artists are funding by our IDEA Task Force. With your help, we’re breaking down the financial barriers that prevent many promising young artist from entering our field.
Before receiving help from EMA, I was very frustrated and wondering if I was wasting time dedicating myself to a career that in Brazil is very difficult to build if you don’t have enough money, the right gender and skin color. I know that for most of my colleagues who participated at Berwick Academy it was just another experience of the many that have had and will have, but for me, without exaggeration, it was the opportunity of a lifetime. I really don’t know if I’ll have anything like this again, and that’s why I enjoyed every class, every rehearsal, every moment. Thank you for encouraging me to continue pursuing my success, no matter what that looks like. – Samara Gama, São Paolo
Young Performers Festival & Emerging Artists Showcase
EMA’s Annual Summit has become the perfect venue to highlight the budding talent of EMA’s Emerging Artists Showcase laureates and the high school and collegiate ensemble of our Young Performers Festival. Your support allows us to provide travel grants for performers as we connect them with mentors, presenters, and new fans attending the Summit. These high-profile performance opportunities are often the first milestones in the professional careers of these impressive musicians.
