Biography

Alfonso Eduardo Quintela Gonzales is a multidisciplinary professional with a distinguished career as a researcher in historical musicology, and a classical and historical musician. Based in La Paz, Bolivia, he has dedicated his career to the revaluation of his country's musical cultural heritage.

As a researcher, he has worked on highly relevant projects, such as coordinating the "Proyecto de Revalorización del Patrimonio Cultural Musical Boliviano" for the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional de Bolivia, where he also serves as an official musician playing the double bass. He has participated in international initiatives, such as the project for the preservation of Baroque musical heritage funded by the Universidad Internacional de La Rioja (Spain). Furthermore, he is a performer on historical instruments like the viola da gamba and the violone.

Among his most significant contributions are authoring books such as "El Secreto de los Moseten: Archivo de música misional de Covendo" and "Música en una población rural de la naciente república: Archivo Musical de Sacaca Potosí – Bolivia", as well as cataloging conventual musical archives and the choir books of the Catedral de Nuestra Señora de La Paz. He has also collaborated on international projects, such as "Hombres de Maíz" with the Haute école de musique de Genève (Switzerland), and he founded and conducted the first Orquesta Sinfónica de Pando and the Ensamble Sincrético.

His academic training includes studies in the cataloging of musical manuscripts, a Master's in Musicology, a degree in Electromechanical Engineering from the Universidad Mayor de San Andrés, and completed studies in Classical Music. Alfonso Eduardo combines his passion for music with scientific rigor to contribute to the preservation and dissemination of Bolivian musical heritage.
