Cincinnati, Ohio-based Baroque violinist Lindsey Tootle has enjoyed success on the international stage as a performer and educator on both Baroque and modern violin.
In 2023, after a performance hiatus spanning six years, Lindsey re-entered the classical music scene as an ambitious force in the world of historical performance. Her imaginative programming often includes works by obscure composers, forgotten manuscripts, or the Appalachian folk music she learned as a child. Of note are her sentimental, stylish interpretations of French Baroque music, and boundary-pushing performances of Italian Baroque violin concerti. In addition to recitals nationwide, Lindsey has performed with members of Harmonie Universelle, Atlanta Baroque, and New Trinity Baroque. She joined Seven Hills Baroque as a Baroque violinist and Promotions and Media Manager in 2023.
Originally from Huntsville, Alabama, Lindsey studied on full scholarship at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa (B.M. Music Performance, cum laude, 2017). She credits her beloved professors Gesa Kordes (Baroque violin), Dr. Don Fader (musicology/HIP studies), and Jenny Gregoire (violin) with beginning, encouraging, and nurturing her historical performance career.
When she isn’t performing, Lindsey is a paralegal at a Cincinnati-area immigration law firm. She also volunteers and advocates for several immigration-related causes: teaching ESOL and citizenship classes, refugee resettlement, and assisting immigration attorneys with their pro bono cases, to name just a few. In her free time, you might find her exploring the outdoors, seeing family and friends, or enjoying all things Alabama football.
