The North American Virtual Recorder Society (NAVRS) present the Flanders Recorder Duo (FR2) for a William Byrd Playing Meeting on Saturday, June 21 at 1:30PM, ET. World-renowned musicians, Tom Beets and Joris Van Goethem, will lead the NAVRS monthly Playing Meeting in an exploration of William Byrd’s famous six-part Pavan and Galliard. The Pavan consists of three contrapuntal strains, starting with a hint of melancholy and evolving in an elaborate and sublime manner. As is customary, the Pavan is paired with a Galliard in triple meter. Tom and Joris promise to take participants through their paces to understand the music and make a beautiful sound.

Joris Van Goethem is an internationally renowned flautist, recorder player, teacher, arranger, and conductor of recorder orchestras.
