About
Pendulum Early Music is a Boise-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit performing ensemble and educational organization dedicated to historically informed performance on period instruments. Founded in 2024 by violinist Geoffrey Hill and cellists Brian Hodges and Kevin McTeague, Pendulum brings together musicians from the Boise area and beyond to perform and study early music.
Pendulum presents a regular series of free public concerts at St. Michael’s Episcopal Cathedral in downtown Boise, bringing together its core musicians with guest artists and collaborators. By offering concerts without admission charges, Pendulum works to make historically informed performance accessible to a broad audience.
Education is also central to Pendulum’s work. Through its Historical Performance Institute, coaching, and collaborations with area musicians, Pendulum is creating more opportunities for historically informed performance in southwest Idaho. In 2025, Pendulum received an Early Music America Engagement Award seed grant in support of its educational work.
Pendulum aims to make early music a regular and accessible part of the musical community in Boise and the surrounding region.
