About
The Elm City Consort began as a viol consort in 2008. With more than ten years' experience providing early music concerts to sourthern New England audiences, we have evolved. In repertoire that ranges from the trecento thorugh the early baroque eras (and occasional forays into historically infomred performance of later repertoire), our membeship is based on the needs of a given program. For our popular performance seried, we also host guest artists who develop programs on their own. The Elm City Consort is particularly interested in supporting early-career musicians and in pushing the boundaries of standard concert formats. We are deeply committed to increasing diversity in our field and in expanding the canon of early music.
