About
The annual Lillian and Maurice Barbash Bach Competition is for string players age 16-30. Entrants are required to perform works by J.S. Bach for unaccompanied bowed modern or baroque string instrument (Partitas, Sonatas or Suites) The Grand Prize is $5000 plus several performing engagements and an opportunity to participate in a masterclass conducted by acclaimed baroque violinist, Rachel Podger. Second Place Prize is $1000. The Finals will be held on December 1, 2022 at Stony Brook University’s Staller Center Recital Hall.
This competition was established to honor the memory of arts patrons LIllian and Maurice Barbash.
