ALBA Consort Presents “The Nightingale Sings”: A Transcontinental Musical Journey from Spain to Persia
NEW YORK, NY — ALBA Consort announces its upcoming performance, “The Nightingale Sings,” taking place on Tuesday, June 9 at 7:00 PM at St. John’s in the Village. This program explores the migratory journey of the nightingale—a timeless symbol of love across Eastern and Western cultures—through a performance of ancient and contemporary music.
The performance traces the nightingale’s flight from the shores of Spain through Southern Europe and North Africa, across the Caucasus, and into the heart of Persia. Audiences will experience a fusion of cross-cultural influences brought to life by authentic period and regional instruments.
A highlight of the evening will be “Four Persian Mystic Poems,” a new work written for the ensemble and its instrumentation by Persian born composer Reza Vali.
