An das Klavier
Alissa Duryee ~ clavichord
An Das Klavier takes its title from the eponymous song by Friederike Pallas, after a poem by Englehard, featured in archival musical notebooks of the Pennsylvania Moravians. Its text portrays the intimate and cathartic experience of keyboard playing. This program combines works by European masters with those of Bethlehem Moravians’ notebooks, in an effort to reconstruct that experience at the clavichord.
Alissa Duryee is a performer and educator based in France. She was awarded Second Prize in the International Clavichord Composition Competition of the Nordic Historical Keyboard Festival in 2018, and was the recipient of the 2023 Joan Benson Prize for accomplishment in clavichord. Recent projects include a recording showcasing the 18th-century Meerbach clavichord at Moravian College in Bethlehem, PA.
