Arcangelo Corelli’s (1653-1713) music took Europe by storm around the turn of the 18th century. To put it in modern terms, his style went viral!
Julie Andrijeski, violin, Katherine Heater, harpsichord, and Daniel Frizzell, theorbo, will join with Pendulum Early Music for this season finale, which features music by composers from turn-of-the-18th-century France, England, Germany, and Italy.
This will be an unforgettable evening of music that traces the influence Corelli had on composers such Muffat, Rebel, Couperin, Corbett, and Telemann. Each of these composers blended their own personal and national styles with the influence of Corelli’s clean, sweeping, and brilliant idiom in a kind of synthesis that would help define the beginning of the 18th century in musical Europe.
